Light the Night Walk
On October 1, 2005, six Umang Volunteers participated second time in fifth annual "Light the Night"
Walk in Reston, Virginia. The event was organized by
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The volunteers
walked as Team Spike's Walkers. The team Spike's Walkers generated about $2100 for the society.
Overall, the walk generated $540,000 that evening. See some pictures below.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is the world's largest voluntary health organization dedicated
to funding blood cancer research, education and patient services.
The Society's mission: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the
quality of life of patients and their families. Since its founding in 1949, the Society has
invested more than $360 million for research specifically targeting blood cancers.
